Nearing completion

As the completion dates draws near, the external areas start to get attention, with a new facade, trees planted in new sidewalk planters and added security in the form of bars across the windows.

Looking through the new (old) doors, past the pool to the patio

Inside the patio courtyard, to the newly constructed balcony

Back inside to the left of the patio, to the kitchen and family dining room

The kitchens clean lines, polished concrete floors and stainless steel counter tops

Moving upstairs to the Garden Room, with its soaring ceilings and many plants

To the bedroom hallway and the classically tiled floor

And the impressive master suite with equally its impressive spa bath !

Then back downstairs in the Patagonia Room and the stone clad fireplace

Then back to outside and the patio again and the numerous plants

and of course, the extravagance which is the swimming pool !

Only a few days from completion…weather permitting !

Downstairs progress

The swiming pool enters its final stage with filling just a few days away…

And the team work to raise the 100 year old 400kg pair of foundation iron front gates into place,

to mark the impressive entrance to this magnificent home

Nearly complete (upstairs)

The work on upstairs is coming together, as everyone pulls together to try and allow William, Johanna and family move in upstairs soon after their return from their new years vacation.

The master bedroom suite…. with its snazzy wallpaper awaits a few finishing touches.

resplendant jacuzzi spa and ceiling alcove ready for a special chandeleir, awaits a few finishing touches.

The Grand Room upstairs with new granite floor, impressive wall features,

and soaring ceiling with clear glass skylight will be a major feature of the home

the new skylight…and farther beyond, sunny Buenos Aires summer

Looking down the hallway to the bedrooms

A little girls room with its minstrels balcony takes shape…

As does a little boys room with special raised bed level…

And one of the many iron doors, newly made in an old style

the kids bathroom and the laundry both near completion.

Things continue to take shape…

looking down the hall to Willy & Jo’s bedroom

their snazzy ceiling “hueco” for recessed lighting and a chandeleir

drywall here is called Durlok, hence these guys are called “durleros”

working at heights removing old drain pipes

and the great room has its feature skylight, now almost complete

and a big hole in the ground starts to resemble a swimming pool

as all available space is taken over by materials…concrete is poured

meanwhile the courtyard becomes a mountain of earth extracted from the pool-pit

the downstairs “Patagonia Room” starts to take shape with its fireplace

meanwhile in the kitchen area, work begins on the wall repairs and wiring

but the destruction is not over yet!

Work begins in earnest…

on the excavation of Williams’ car-inspection pit (aka p-o-o-l), not that we are allowed to say such a thing to anyone !

Meanwhile, progress continues with much plastering of walls, electrical cabling installation, and delivery of tiles for the bathrooms. None of which merits much in the way of photography (yet)… soon a sneak preview of that !

Oct 24 update

As work progresses, the photos will form more of a historical record of cement and brick work, than showing anything really discernible.

Looking down to where the pool will go…

From the great space upstairs which will be called the “Jungle Room”

Where Aldo is waiting for the elevator…always so boring…

The view looking down the hallway from both ends (with bedroom walls now in place)

Rhetts bedroom                       and               Chinas bedroom

Willy and Jo’s bedroom in progress (levelling the floors) and electrical cabling in preparation
